So the Dhaliwals were drunk, huh?
Anyway, I hate football. I'm pretty sure I hate it because my dad was a coach and I thought that I HAD to play. So when I was in the 8th grade, I signed up for the midget leagues and I was terrible. Fat, weak, and slow. You can guess what position I played. Yep, the human wall. Unless you are going to be at least 6' 4" and weigh 300 pounds, or just like getting headaches, there is no reason to be a member of the offensive line. There are fat kids all over the country who fool themselves into thinking that this position is "fun". No, it's not. The sport is called footBALL, but my fellow oafs and I weren't/aren't allowed to have possession of the ball. What a stupid position. Anyway, I stuck it out for three painful years. Once I found out that my dad didn't care whether I played varsity or not, I didn't sign up that year. I bought a guitar instead.
Since then I haven't paid that much attention to the sport. The regular season games bore me, the die-hard fans annoy me, and watching six hours of football is a waste of a Sunday. However, I thought that this year, I'd try to get more involved for whatever reason. So I joined a Fantasy Football League. Being "out of it" for so long, I had no idea who most of my players were, and the ones I did know got hurt within the first few weeks. I tried to trade, add, and drop, but I kept finishing in last every week. I eventually lost all interest and I haven't checked my progress since. I think it's pretty safe to say that I ended up dead last.
Despite all of this, there is something to say about the playoff season. It's winter, and there are cold and wet Sundays that are supposed to be wasted in front of the heater. Plus, the gameplay is much more intense, the crowds and announcers are vivacious, and the commercials are better. So I guess I don't hate football that much, just the regular season. I'm going to be rooting for the San Diego Chargers this weekend because they are my friend's favorite team and they are from California. But I can't even tell you the name of one of their players right now. What a fan.
At least baseball season is starting soon...with steriods, court cases, bad press, and all.
Go 2011 East Bay A's!!!
